You so strongly believe what you are that indeed, you leave no space for change to occur.
Do you pay enough attention to the domino game you have created and trapped your life in? Do you realize the power of the stories you tell to yourself and to which you cling like crystal clear reality?
- “I will not change my mind, I am too stubborn – everyone says so”.
- “I know I can change but I am too lazy”.
- “I don’t like how I look, I am really not beautiful”.
- “This is not good enough for me, I deserve better”.
- ….
Now, take a step back and see with your sharp knife what these all truly are:
Self-limiting beliefs.
Stories made up by you.
Of course, they didn’t come out of nowhere and those that you take for granted the most are deeply carved in from your childhood times, a traumatic experience, remarks from people you admired, experience…. All got together and created a spark which made you think: that’s it, I am this, I am that.
The trick is that these become self-fulfilling prophecies and you remain stuck in your mental stories.
This is such a shame and sorry to say: there is no space for limiting beliefs in the art of peeling the onion.
I received this auspicious quote this week from a colleague. Have a read and think about it:
“Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions, your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.” Gandhi
The only way to reach total freedom is to cut these beliefs at their very core with your sharp knife.
Here is how to do it:
- Make a wish to be free from your limiting beliefs
- List all the images you have of yourself, negative and positive.
- Observe how these limiting beliefs express themselves in your daily life: your internal stories as you daydream as well as your reactions in conversations.
- Learn to spot them fast and often until you become totally conscious of what your stories say.
Then you can decide which ones you want to keep and which ones it is high time to drop.
Are you ready to peel the onion with your sharp knives and build a new life freed from limiting beliefs?
